UK GOV TO BUILD 300K NEW HOMES PER YEAR WITH MILLIONS UNDER THREAT FROM CLIMATE CHANGE !!

The British government want to build 300.000 new homes every year to combat the dire housing crisis. The demand is similar in many other countries BUT climate change will play a significant roles in this situation as most new builds will be in areas which are close to cities where rivers are usually close by. London, Liverpool, Amsterdam, Hamburg the list is endless. In 2022–23, there were 5.7 million properties in England at risk of flooding from rivers, the sea, surface water (when rainfall cannot drain away) or groundwater (where the water table level rises about ground). The conventional building methods will need to be reviewed to adapt to the new problems which will only get worse. in other articles on this site we have dealt with these methods but legislation will need to be revised quickly to accommodate the changing scenario. We need engineers not politicians to dictate the way forward.
